“Return from the Mountain Pastures” Holiday (October)

A must-see event, Le Retour des Alpages takes place every year on the second Saturday in October. This tradition, dating back to the Middle Ages, celebrates the descent of the herds from the mountain pastures after the summer grazing season.
In the narrow streets of Annecy’s old town, more than 600 cows, sheep and other animals parade through the streets in a festive and authentic atmosphere. Decorated herds, craftspeople, traditional trades, folk groups, traditional instruments, local producers and Savoyard traditions bring this great popular festival to life.
Your stay also includes visits to: Morzine and its heritage, Yvoire, Lake Montriond, Les Lindarets, Avoriaz, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and its Alpine museum, a dairy farm with a tasting of Savoyard cheeses, the Cirque de Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval and Samoëns.
Au programme :
- Jour 1Arrivée à l’hôtel, installation, apéritif de bienvenue et dîner.
- Jour 2Visite de Morzine pour admirer son patrimoine montagnard typiquement savoyard. Déjeuner à l’hôtel. Excursion à Evian les Bains et à Yvoire, cité médiévale au bord du Léman.
- Jour 3Excursion au lac de Montriond, les Lindarets et Avoriaz. Déjeuner à l’hôtel. Excursion à Chamonix Mont Blanc, visite du musée alpin puis temps libre dans la ville.
- Jour 4Visite avec dégustation d’une fromagerie artisanale à Morzine. Déjeuner à l’hôtel. Excursion à Montreux et découverte de la Suisse miniature avec le Swiss Vapeur Parc.
- Jour 5Journée à Annecy : route par le col de la Colombière et la vallée des Aravis, arrivée à Annecy. Déjeuner libre dans la ville où de nombreux stands vous proposent de la restauration. Puis, place à la grande Fête du Retour des Alpages. Retour vers Morzine en fin de journée.
- Jour 6Départ après le petit-déjeuner.
